Municipal Elections

Municipal elections for the Town of Alberton are administered by the Mineral County Election Office. Town council and mayoral positions are elected by Alberton residents.

Voter Registration To vote in municipal elections, you must be a registered voter in Mineral County. You can register to vote or update your registration online at the Montana Voter Information Portal or in person at the Mineral County Election Office.

Running for Office Interested in serving your community? Any registered voter residing within the Town of Alberton may file as a candidate for Town Council or Mayor. Candidates file with the Mineral County Election Office during the designated filing period, which typically opens in the spring of an election year. Filing is free.

Vacant Seats — Appointments When a Town Council or mayoral seat becomes vacant between elections, the Town Council may appoint a qualified resident to fill the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term. Residents interested in being considered for an appointment are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to the Town of Alberton at info@albertonmontana.com.
