FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)

I LIVE IN ALBERTON; CAN I GET SOME FOOD HELP ?
Yes, Residents of Alberton can qualify for help with food.  Stop into the Alberton Community Food Pantry, when it's open on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month (1-6 pm), and our volunteers will give you an Application and go over its questions with you.  We ask that you bring Proof of Residency at that time. Then we give you some food, per our guidelines, and invite you to return again in two weeks.

WHAT SERVES AS PROOF OF RESIDENCY ?
A Driver's license or utility bill or any official document that shows where you live will be accepted as Proof of Residency.  Volunteers explain that the Food Pantry must be very careful to determine it is serving only local residents.

HOW MUCH FOOD CAN I GET AT ONE TIME ?
We have guidelines on how much food we can give out, but typically the amount depends on how many people are in your family.  We can give you enough food for two days. When we can give more, we do.  We are as generous as we can be. The Town of Alberton has been very generous.

WHERE DOES THE PANTRY GET ITS FOOD ?
The Alberton Community Food Pantry accepts cash and food donations to stock its shelves. Most of its food is purchased at reduced rates from the Montana Food Bank Network.  If you'd like to donate to the Food Bank, contact one of the Volunteers.

HOW CAN I DONATE TO THE ALBERTON FOOD BANK ?
A regular cash donation is a good way to help your neighbors in need. We use the monetary donation to buy quality food from the Montana Food Bank Network for a reduced rate. Of course, we also accept food donations, and this can include perishable items (fruits, vegetables), canned goods (rice and soups) as well as more specialty type items, such as baby formula or meals focused on meeting the needs of senior citizens or children.

Here is a list of suggested items that every food bank could use. Stay tuned for special notices. Note: Expiration date on food can be no later than two years.

WHERE CAN I DONATE TO THE ALBERTON FOOD BANK ?
The Alberton Community Food Bank is open twice a month: the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 1 pm to 6 pm. You can also drop off food donations to the following locations in Alberton:

Alberton Feed & Supply Store Monday - Saturday 9 - 6 pm
Senior Citizens Center Tuesdays & Thursdays 12 - 1 pm
Alberton Churches Sundays
HOW CAN I HELP THE ALBERTON FOOD BANK ?
An all-volunteer Board of Directors operates the Alberton Community Food Bank. If you're looking to help out your community, please become a Food Pantry Volunteer. We need volunteers to help on Wednesday afternoon shifts, to help stock shelves, and to help deliver food to the pantry. Contact
Linda Gardner at (406) 722-4975. You can also call the Town Clerk (Diane Jodsass) and leave your name and number. Thank you !!
